Foxy Street Is Now Open!

October 12th, 2009

Foxy Bingo has launched another site, because Foxy Radio and the Foxy Funhouse sites weren’t enough. But hey, I’m not complaining because what Foxy Street is delivering, is better than what some high street malls are offering! Giving high street shops a run for their money is the virtual Foxy Street, and the style is effortless. The store opened with its latest Foxy merchandise, such as customised skins for iPods and laptops. You have to see these to believe how cool they look! As opposed to other stores, where these’ll cost you a fortune, Foxy Street dishes out one bargain after another. There aren’t just gadgets, there are perfumes, bags, stuffed toys, the works!

Foxy Street is another way for Foxy Bingo to say thank you to its bingo players while also making them loosen their purse strings a little more. There are tons of free and subsidized items on the menu, but there are also some of the must-haves on the shelf. For those of you wondering what you should be getting your online bingo friends as a gift this Christmas, Foxy Street is worth a try. Choose from categories such as Home Furnishings, Health and Fitness, Fashion Accessories, Jewelery, Technology and the good ole Foxy Goodies.

Foxy Street is bringing the bingo players a new medium of redeeming their collected points or winnings, and the players in return can spend it on items for themselves. Instead of putting your bonus points towards games with smaller jackpots, spend them at Foxy Street and hit it big for yourself. There are many wonderful gifts to choose from including fashionable accessories. So time to bring all those bonus points you’ve collected to their fruition and for you to sit back and soak up some sun. Foxy Street can be found easily and you won’t get stuck in traffic trying to get there.

Free Bingo Travels to Blackpool

October 12th, 2009

Free Bingo UK has decided to plan a bingo players’ day out, packed with loads of bingo fun and other activities. All bingo players from the site are aware that this site is completely free to try, and there tons of free bingo rooms to choose from. The online bingo site decided to take their game one step further and give their players a chance to meet in person. The last time they tried it at the Alton Towers, it was a hit, so they thought why not do it again? The whole purpose of a bingo game is to give folks a chance to socialise while engaging in a fun and rewarding activity.

With online bingo sites springing up faster than ever before, there is a greater need to keep that socialising element of bingo alive. Also with offline bingo halls closing down, bingo players need more than just free bingo online. While some sites have taken the online social networking approach, Free Bingo UK, is all about making the experience real. So what are the lucky bingo players going to do on their day out? Tons of stuff lined up apparently, including some crazy rides.

Free Bingo UK has organised the trip to Blackpool, and participants from all over the UK have signed up for the fun package. There is the crazy fairground ride from Pepsi Max – The Big One for the adventurous bingo players, and for the not-so-spontaneous ones there will be the bingo games to play. The unique bingo games catching up these days are the ones replacing all the numbers on your cards for either celebrity names or songs or movie names etc. The Free Bingo lucky bingo players will be playing the karaoke version of bingo, wherein songs will be picked at random and played for the players, and if they have all the songs on their cards, it is a full house! Sounds like a great place to be hanging out at. Look up Free Bingo for more of such fun and exciting activities.

Gala Bingo Reaches For New Heights

October 12th, 2009

Gala Bingo is probably the most talked about online bingo site, not only because of its mega massive online bingo player community, but also because of its strong presence among the land-based bingo halls. Bingo fans from Gala Bingo are currently preparing for a journey that the world is going to remember for a long time to come! Playing bingo is one thing, but combining it with an adventure sport is going to increase the stakes of this social game. Training for, what is said to be, the World’s Highest Game of Bingo are 24 employees from Gala Bingo. This lucky bunch is going to be playing atop the Mount Everest to set a new world record.

Gala Bingo’s supporters are excited about this new adventure and any true bingo fan will be right there rooting for these brave ones as they make their way through horrible weather, physical stress and high altitudes, all for the love of bingo! You didn’t think they were going to play bingo at Mount Everest just for some jackpot, did you? Well, true to its nature, this online bingo site is raising funds and awareness for the Sue Ryder charity as part of this bingo trek. Gala Bingo is hoping to raise the million that they are targetting for before the end of the year.

The stakes are high and there is definitely anxiety in the air, and anyone who has ever managed to climb all the way to the top of the Everest, will tell you it is not ordinary task. The mental and physical stamina required is beyond average, and the players not only have the mammoth task of getting to the top, but also then indulging in a real game of bingo. The clarity of mind required for the same is going to be a challenge in itself. We support this brave gesture and hope that bingo can finally make its mark where only a few men have gone before!

UK Bingo Halls On A Downturn

October 7th, 2009

UK bingo halls have been popular for decades now, and many celebrities started off their careers at these land-based bingo halls. The current trend however is showing a shift in the manner of bingo players. With bingo becoming accessible at the touch of a button and in the comfort of your own bedroom, the legacy of offline bingo halls is burning out. For most, since the explosion of online bingo sites, which by the way sit at a figure of 250+ at the moment, the whole experience of bingo playing has had a face lift. While the UK still lags in the transfer of avid bingo players from offline bingo halls to online in comparison to the US, this trend is definitely showing a shift.

Bingo players in the UK are slowly and steadily opting for the online bingo sites. When one can play comfortably from home without having to even change out of their pjs, why swap that for a game at the local bingo hall? The concept of bingo rests on the socialising aspect, and more players are now associated with social networking sites, making it even more impossible to lure bingo players out of online bingo. While three years ago, UK had 650 land based bingo halls, this number has dwindled to a 550. Will there be a day when we won’t have a local bingo hall?

For bingo players across the UK, the bingo halls have already cut down hours and in certain cases, shut down completely. We love online bingo, but offline bingo has a traditional way about it that makes it endearing. For me in particular, this is a catch22 situation, wherein I do want to play online bingo, but don’t want the offline bingo halls to shut down completely. Oh dear, oh dear! Things may take a turn for the better and we might see these bingo halls and many new ones come back into action in the next couple of years, but we’ll have to wait and watch for that.

New Online Bingo Adverts

October 5th, 2009

Online bingo has expanded so quickly over the past couple of years and now they are vying for your attention on the tv screens. There have been so many major online bingo brands that have been dishing out some quality fun sized entertainment, just for you lot. For beginners, there is the adorable Wink Bingo advert with the dog and owner engaging in some synchronised dancing, to celebrate a victory on Wink Bingo. In my opinion, the celebrations begin as soon as you get to this online bingo site. Before you can even say hello, you say WOW, £15 no deposit welcome bonus!

Wink Bingo has had this offer on the table for months now and everyone who has tried it has stayed around for more, because the games are always fresh and the online bingo community is one of the best I’ve seen around. But mind you if you thought the cute dog and his master was a laugh, the new Gala Bingo ads aren’t a far cry away. There has been money flying around everywhere and bingo players have been running after, and why wouldn’t they? Gala Bingo’s latest online offer gives you free bingo money to try out the online bingo site.

Online bingo’s sizzling offers are putting to shame many of the other bingo promotions such as holidays and monthly jackpots. With all the focus on what the best welcome deals are, it looks like it’ll be a while before, playing mega jackpots comes back into fashion. Now is the time for free bingo games and penny bingo games, and if you keep a close eye on it, you’ll see that all the big guns have started releasing limited period only welcome bonus offers. Foxy Bingo has put down an offer you can’t resist, but it’ll last for only a while, so check out all these ads and the amazing welcome bonuses that they are promoting!

Tombola finally launches its brand new T.V. advert

August 23rd, 2009

As some of you may know, members of Tombola Bingo team was shooting for their new TV advertisement campaign for their online bingo website all the while keeping their online bingo players  in the loop through a daily blog featuring behind the scenes footage including videos and photos of the shoot location and how it was progressing. All this in order to get their players involved with the whole project!

Well after all that excitement around the making of the ad, Tombola Bingo has finally launched their new television campaign a few days back. The adverts are  to be aired across prime time slots like Coronation Street and Emmerdale Farm. Not only that, they have kept name of the shoot location a  secret and  has challenged Tombola  players to take a wild guess about the location The player who gets lucky enough to guess the correct location will be promptly sent off to the  location for a family holiday courtesy Tombola Bingo. Do check out the Tombola website and YouTube channel for the clues!

The new campaign replaces the one with a fairground backdrop as Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) banned it on a complaint that felt the earlier ad could appeal to children and young adults.  This time the  Tombola Bingo creative team has played it very safe and replaced the peppy colourful rollercoaster ride of the previous ad with a more sedate, moderately paced narrative against a tropical theme  with a middle aged cast! The advert is available on you tube so you must check it out for yourself.

Regular Tombola Bingo players would agree that advert or no advert the site is unique for their exclusive online games developed by their in-house bingo software and available no where else. No wonder  they claim to be Britain’s biggest site.

Another Gala Bingo Hall bites the dust

August 10th, 2009

With the government refusal to change the current tax rate to the previous 15%, the Gala Coral group has been forced to face a nationwide closure of some of its bingo hall clubs.

Gala Bingo’s popular bingo hall in Aldridge closed down forever on the 1st of August. Regular bingo players of the club had all turned up on the fateful evening for one final, and rather emotional game of bingo. Doreen Wilson of Bentley Drive, a veteran bingo player at the Aldridge club for more than 25 years and also a proud winner of a handsome £42,000 jackpot said that she has very happy memories of the club and that a lot of people are going to miss it. Glenda Allinson, a retired nurse of Leighswood Avenue, commented: “I can’t understand the closure when this club has been making a profit. There have been people coming here for years and years, and this is the main centre of entertainment in Aldridge.” Besides the regular players, it was a somber moment for the staff members too – some having to loose their job after serving the club for ages. Among them were deputy controller Irene Geoghan who has been at Aldridge hall 32 years and bar supervisor Mary Eden a staff for 33 years.

A week earlier the Gala Bingo club in Pitsea, Essex faced a similar fate and played its last bingo session on Monday 27th July 2009. Another popular Gala Bingo hall, the Leven Gala Bingo hall has recently closed too. Gala Bingo stated that this is a direct result of the government’s refusal to reverse the increased bingo duties The government’s refusal to revise the tax rate will only invite more closures, job losses and continued damage of a popular from of social interaction.

Mecca Bigno raises money for Wizz-kidz

July 29th, 2009

Mecca Bingo has launched a new campaign to convert old coins and left over foreign coins from a holiday  into much needed funds for young wheelchair users. The fund raising campaign is called ‘The Currency for Kidz scheme’ and aims at encouraging people to bring any old or foreign coins to the bingo clubs at Brookdale Place, Chester or Marina Drive, Ellesmere Port the club. These coins will then be donated to Mecca’s charity of the year, Whizz-Kidz.

Bernie Dullaghan the general manager of Mecca Harlow said: “Whenever you come back from a summer holiday it always seems like you have a pocket full of leftover foreign coins. The banks won’t take them but, until the end of September, we’re accepting any foreign or old coins as a donation for Whizz-Kidz – all money raised will go to deserving kids in the region.”

Indeed, this is a novel way of getting rid of foreign coins picked up on trips abroad and at the same time you are doing your bit for a wonderful cause. Your little help will go a long way to support the independence of young wheelchair-users in local communities.

Ruth Owen, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the enthusiasm and inventiveness of all Mecca Bingo team and club members in raising money to support young wheelchair-users’ independence.” She further appealed: “Disabled children stand virtually no chance of getting a powered wheelchair on the NHS. Through Mecca Bingo’s funding of powered and manual wheelchairs and training, more children now have the opportunities previously denied them. Please help us raise even more money to make real differences to young lives.”

Mecca Bingo has been dedicated to fundraising for young wheelchair-users in local communities.  Last year Mecca raised more than £280,000 for Whizz-Kidz. The fundraisers are confident of much more in 2009. Visit the Mecca Bingo site to learn more.

July 20th, 2009

Bingo Birthday greetings to Sally Melia our star Mecca Bingo player from Knotty Ash in Liverpool. She turned 103 and celebrated her birthday in true bingo style when friends and staff threw a surprise party complete with hundreds of cards, a cake, and balloons at her local Mecca Bingo club. Sally has been a regular at the Liverpool club since she was 60 years old and can easily claim to be the oldest known bingo regular in the Mecca Bingo group.

Sally was born in 1906, and worked in her youth for tailors Roberts and Bromley, and during the war s at a Royal Ordnance factory. She retired at 65 in 1971 as a school cook. The manager of Mecca Bingo club, Steve Linder added: “Sally is as fit as a fiddle and more active than some people 30 years her junior, she is the queen of this bingo hall and deserves to be treated like Royalty.”

Here is what the birthday girl and the celebrity Mecca bingo player has to say about her favourite activity: ” I don’t know what I would do if I could not get down to the bingo, it keeps me active and you meet some lovely people. One of these days I’m sure I will land the big Jackpot”. Now that one spirited bingo player.
