ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) has been pulling the plug on many online bingo related ads throughout the UK, claiming that they are wrongly influencing the younger audiences. The adverts that show Tombola Bingo as a ride on a fairground, was meant to represent to online bingo players what it felt like to be on the bingo site. Instead, this online bingo advert was held up by ASA after receiving a complaint from a concerned viewer and one that I think has either never played bingo or learned to take it easy. Soon after the complaint ASA pulled both versions of the Tombola Bingo adverts from the telly.

Bingo players all over the UK online bingo circuit have strong opinions about whether this move was right and if ASA’s random acts of monitoring online bingo sites only have any fair grounds (no pun intended). This news is not only affecting Tombola’s advertising spend but also ruined all their bingo promo information which was a part of the ad. Television adverts are the best medium to spread bingo promo news to bingo players all across the UK. Tombola Bingo’s advert was meant to do just that, but was taken off the air before it could make an impact on a significant amount of bingo players.

Tombola Bingo’s ad even had the  catchy Tombola song in it. It’s a tough time for online bingo adverts on the telly these days. Tombolo Bingo is not the only bingo site that was under the ASA radar, there have been many online bingo sites that were pulled up recently for inappropriate content. While UK bingo continues to make headlines due to such odd glitches, the damage done is very little, as bingo players are finding their own way around online bingo sites.
